KARACHI: Spinner Faraz Ahmed Khan grabbed a 10-wicket and Danish Aziz put in grand all-round performance as the high-flying Zone-VI stormed to their third successive victory in the ongoing PCB Senior Inter-district Cricket (Kara­chi Region) Tourna­ment match here on Tuesday.

Zone-VI’s hapless victims this time were Zone-VII who suffered a 224-run walloping at the UBL Sports Complex.

Batting first, the star-laden Zone-VI used their first-innings quota of 83 overs to reach 337-8. Babar Hussain Agha led the onslaught by hitting up a glorious 123, a knock that was embedded with 14 boundaries and one towering six.

The left-handed Danish showed his talent by scoring 85 with the aid of five fours and four sixes.

Zone-VII, in reply, totalled 227 all out in 78.1 overs. Hafiz Amin the main run-getter with 79. Slow left-armer Faraz claimed five wickets for 82 runs, while off-spinner Ashiq Ali took 4-56.

Zone-VI then closed their second innings at 161-9. Opener Usman Khan contributed a fine 79, featuring 12 fours and one six.

Chasing 262, Zone-VII’s batting capitulated in 27 overs for a paltry 47. Hafiz Amin (13), Ali Mudassar (10) and Owais Ahmed Rehmani (10) were the only batsmen to enter double figures.

Faraz, this time, claimed 5-27 to end up with match figures of 10-109 while Danish’s left-arm spin fetched the youngster five wickets for only eight runs.
