LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police claimed on Wednesday to have killed four suspected robbers in an ‘encounter’ in Shadman.

A security guard informed Police 15 about the presence of four robbers in a house. A police team cordoned off the surroundings and got the adjacent houses vacated.

Police asked the suspects to surrender but they fired on the personnel and tried to run away through roofs of different houses.

The policemen retaliated the firing which continued for more than two hours or so.

They managed to kill all the robbers in the encounter, recovered the bodies and weapons, including a Kalashnikov, a rifle and a pistol from the roof.

The police shifted the bodies to morgue for identification.

CIA SP Tariq Mastoi and Model Town SP Kashif Aslam were leading the police teams.

Talking to the media, Mr Mastoi said they first got the houses vacated and after cordoning off the locality killed the robbers. He said no one from the public and police were injured during the shootout.
