ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday sealed eight properties as part of its campaign against the nonconforming use of residential properties, including a house where PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz was running NGO offices.

The CDA’s building control team sealed Mr Aziz’ house in G-6, where he had been running an office of the Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment, which was later unsealed.

The CDA also sealed the office of the Children Global Network.

When asked, Building Control Director Faisal Naeem said: “Today, we sealed eight properties in various sectors, including the two houses in question. We do not know who was running NGO offices in the said houses.”

He said that according to CDA bylaws and Supreme Court orders, no commercial activity can take place in residential houses.

Sources in the authority said that in addition to sealing the two aforementioned offices, the CDA also sealed a new school and the offices of a private university.

Mr Aziz told Dawn his organisation had already vacated the building in question, but the CDA sealed it despite this.

However, he said, the house had later been unsealed. Mr Naeem also confirmed that the house was unsealed this evening after Mr Aziz’s organisation submitted an affidavit that he would not use the premises to run an office there.
