PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to investigate the sources of PML-N's funding.

Addressing a press conference. he alleged that while PML-N spent more than a billion rupees during its 2013 election campaign, the party does not have any record of that spending.

Chaudhry also raised questions about PML-N's party structure in the country, saying that the ruling party has no registered office in the country and has no record of its finances.

Discussing Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) policy, the PTI spokesperson said that every party is required to submit a certificate to the ECP stating that the party has not received funding from prohibited sources.

Chaudhry insisted that in light of this rule PML-N's certificate could not be valid as its funds have not been thoroughly audited.

"The ECP requires every political party to hire a top-notch audit firm to audit its funds," he asserted.

Adding that, "PML-N did not comply with that rule as it did not hire a reliable auditor."

"The party funds in Balochistan were not audited at all," he maintained.

Chaudhry blamed the ECP for violating its own rules by accepting PML-N's certificate.

He said the joint investigation team (JIT) reported that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had donated Rs10 billion to the party and withdrew Rs6 billion, insisting that Sharif is using the party to hide his "black money".

Answering a question, Chaudhry said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will wait for the ECP to take notice of the irregularities in PML-N's accounts.

If the ECP fails to do that, PTI will file a petition against PML-N's funding, he declared.

On the other hand, a case over PTI's alleged foreign funding is currently underway in the ECP.
