ISLAMABAD: Elections for the National Executive Committee (NEC) of All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (Apnec) will be held on Wednesday.

The decision was taken on the first day of newspapers’ employees convention, which brought together union leaders of newspapers employees and journalists from all over the country in the federal capital.

Unionists and workers on the first day of their convention on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the delay in the elections of Federal Executive Committee (FEC) terming it big negligence and decided to hold the election of a new National Executive Committee. Senator Talha Mehmood was the chief guest on the occasion.

A four-member body headed by Senator Talha was constituted which will conduct and supervise the elections process. The convention will conclude on Thursday.

The candidates for National Executive Committee include Shakeel Yameen Kanga of Jang Group (secretary general), Asif Pervez Butt, Naeem Mustafa, Abdul Samad Mengal, Dara Zafar, Rana Mohammad Yousaf, Mohammad Siddiq Anzer, Kaleem Shamim, Raja Javed, Ishtiaq, Imdadullah, Fawad Ahmad, Sheikh Mohammad Iqbal, Mumtaz Bhatti (members).
