KARACHI: Most parts of upper Sindh remained in the grip of continental heatwave, with the mercury touching the 43 degrees Celsius mark in Rohri, making it the hottest place of the province on Saturday, according to a Met official.

Hot weather has been forecast for Sunday too.

Responding to Dawn’s queries, the Met official said that a small town in Thar desert, Chhor, was the second hottest place in the province with maximum temperature rising to 42.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

The maximum temperature recorded in Karachi was 40.5 degrees centigrade, the official said, adding that Sunday will likely remain hot and dry with maximum temperature ranging between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius.

The official said the minimum temperature recorded in the city on Saturday was 26.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity was recorded at 26 per cent, he added. Other towns where high temperatures were recorded on Saturday included Dadu (42.1°C); Mithi and Sukkur (42°C); Moenjodaro, Padidan, Nawabshah and Thatta (41.5°C); Mirpurkhas and Badin (41°C); and Larkana, Jacobabad and Hyderabad (40.5°C).
