LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau Lahore has arrested a Lesco officer and an official of the deputy commissioner office in Mianwali on charges of corruption.

According to NAB, Lesco Manager Mian Muhammad Afzal had accumulated assets beyond known sources of income.

“The suspect owns several plots in different societies in his own and other family members’ names and also has a cash amount of Rs130 million,” it said, adding the suspect was given a chance to defend during the course of inquiry.

The NAB produced him before an accountability court and obtained his physical remand till May 3.

In the other raid, NAB arrested Muhammad Akram, an employee of the DC office in Mianwali.

It said the suspect made Rs8 million and other benami assets and failed to justify his source of income.

He was also accused of issuing fake licences against different weapons after taking bribe.
