PESHAWAR: Winners in seven categories for the second edition of the Amir Ahmad Siddiqui Media Awards were finalised at a meeting of five-member judges’ committee here on Wednesday.

The committee headed by Rahimullah Yusufzai (Executive Editor, The News, Peshawar) decided that the names of winners would be announced at the award distribution ceremony scheduled to be held at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday (today) at 2:30pm.

Others members who attended the meeting on Wednesday included Ismail Khan (Editor KP/Fata Dawn) and senior journalist Abdullah Jan.

The awards, an initiative to promote ethical and competitive journalism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata, have been named after late Amir Ahmad Siddiqui, a founding member of the Peshawar Press Club and Khyber Union of Journalists.

The categories in which awards will be given to the successful applicants, include best investigative story (English), best feature/column (English/Urdu), best investigative story (Urdu), best picture (print), best radio package and best TV package.

The TV package involves two awards, one each for reporter and cameraman. A lifetime achievement award is also included in the list of categories.

Senior Minister Local Government Inayatullah Khan and senior politician Afrasiab Khattak and judges’ panel would hand over the awards to the successful journalists.
