MULTAN: Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Muhammad Naeem says the 1100MW Chashma-4 nuclear power plant would be connected to the national grid by May.

He was speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the enhanced facility block of the Multan Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy here on Wednesday evening.

He said nuclear power generation would increase up to 8800MW by the year 2030. He said PAEC would continue to contribute to enhancing nuclear electricity generation to raise overall power generation capacity to 40,000MW by 2050.

He said construction work was in progress on two nuclear power plants each having a capacity of 1100MW.
