RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab on Thursday asked the district administrations of Rawalpindi division to speed up work on the development projects funded by the federal government and present him a report as soon as possible.

The minister is the head of a committee formed to supervise the development projects jointly launched in Punjab by the federal and provincial governments. Retired Capt Mohammad Safdar is member of the committee.

An amount of Rs200 million has been provided to each constituency of the National Assembly in the province.

The minister visited the Rawalpindi division to review the works and will prepare a report for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

During a meeting at the commissioner office, he said the district administrations and other civic agencies should pay attention on the construction of roads connecting the city areas with villages.

MNA Raja Javed Ikhlas, Commissioner Azmat Mehmood, Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal, local government director A.D. Najmi, Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood and other officials attend the meeting.

The minister said all utility lines and electricity poles should be installed before the carpeting of roads so that the new roads could be saved from digging.

He also stressed the need for the use of quality material in the construction projects.
