GHALANAI: A tribesman was killed when an improvised explosive device went off in Darwazgai locality of Pandiali tehsil here on Wednesday afternoon.

Political naib tehsildar Imtiaz Ali Shah confirmed the incident, saying a local tribesman identified as Bahdar Khan was killed when he stepped over an IED planted by unknown miscreants in the fields in Darwazgai area.

After the incident security personnel cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation but no arrest was made till our going to the press.

The political administration beefed up security after the suicide attack on the political compound in the agency headquarters, Ghalanai, on 15th of this month, which left five persons killed, including three Levies personnel.

All entry and exit points to the agency headquarters have been sealed and checkpoints set up to search vehicles and people, entering the area. Security checkposts have also been established at important government buildings, including educational institutions and hospitals.
