KARACHI: Despite making exit in the men’s doubles last four together with Kamran, former Karachi champion and reigning No 1 Aahil Shah is on course for a triple crown in the Karachi Table Tennis Championships at the Sindh Sports Board (SSB) sports complex on Tuesday.

With men’s team title already in his kitty, Aahil and Noureen pair got the better of Salman and Farah 11-8, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9 to advance into mixed doubles final.

The duo is pitted against the combination of Hussain and Sadia who swept aside Arsalan and Qurat 11-5, 11-4, 11-1 in the other semi-final.

Similarly, he is among the quartet who have made it to the men’s singles last four routing Raheel Saleem 11-7, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9 in quarters. Atta Abbas, Akbar Shah and Faizan Laique are the other three who have propelled in the last four.

However, in the men’s doubles, eventual champions Hussain Verani and Raheel Qureshi sent Aahil and Kamran packing 11-6, 9-11, 12-10, 11-7 in the last four.

Meanwhile, Hussain and Raheel annexed the title by default as their opponents Salman Saleem and Tabish Khurshid failed to turn up for the fixtures.

According to organisers, the latter skipped the final following Salman’s injury.

The event concludes on Wednesday.
