LAHORE: Three suspected militants belonging to a banned outfit were arrested from Gujranwala, claimed a spokesman for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) here on Thursday.

He claimed that the suspected militants who pledged allegiance to the militant Islamic State group were arrested from DC Colony in Gujranwala.

He said the suspects were planning to attack a sensitive installation in the city when a police team raided a house and arrested them.

The spokesman identified the arrested as Muhammad Rizwan, Wajid Ali and Muhammad Armughan.

He said the police team also recovered 1,370 grams of explosive material, three detonators and 7.25 feet prima cord from their custody.

He said a case under section 4/5 ESA, 11f (2), 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act (ATA) was registered against the suspects at the Gujranwala CTD police station. He said the suspects were shifted to some undisclosed location for interrogation.
