LAHORE: A woman who was hit by a stray bullet while shopping in Shalimar on Saturday died here on Sunday.

Rukhshana, 45, her husband Asif and three children were standing at a roadside when a stray bullet hit her in the head. She lost her balance and fell to the ground. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died 24 hours later.

Earlier, Asif told police that they had gone out for shopping near Aliya Town and were standing on the road when his wife fell down. He said they found her bleeding from the head.

“We took her to the Services Hospital where doctors told us that she had suffered a bullet wound in the head”.

Shalimar police reached the hospital, recorded statements of the witnesses and registered a case under Section 324 of Pakistan Penal Code and later added murder charges to the case.

Station House Officer Iftikhar Ahmad said that the case was registered against unidentified suspect(s) on the complaint of Asif. He said the woman suffered a stray bullet wound in the head.
