LAHORE: A calligraphy exhibition, titled Jewels of Calligraphy, by Asghar Ali, who was also Naqqash Masjid-i-Nabvi, opened at the Ejaz Art Gallery on Friday.

Ali has put 30 calligraphy pieces on display in the exhibition that was a well-attended by senior artists, including Saeed Akhtar and ceramist Michu Salahuddin. The event was inaugurated by Auria Maqbool Jan.

Asghar Ali had won first prize in the International Arabic Calligraphy Competition organised in Makkah in June 2012. He was invited to the competition when he visited the Kingdom to participate in ‘Allama Bil Qalam’ exhibition of Arabic calligraphy from Pakistan.

The artist has displayed his works in many group exhibitions and also held solo shows in Pakistan and abroad. The exhibition will remain open till Jan 27.
