Support for Kashmir

Published January 21, 2017

KASHMIR has been compared to Palestine quite often and as time passes, the parallel has become even more apt. In both places, the people’s resistance finds itself forsaken by the international community and its leaders divided. Six months since the killing of Burhan Wani, the situation in Kashmir remains dire with no relief in sight.

The people of Kashmir have been left to their own devices as India ramps up atrocities in India-held Kashmir. Pakistan has been trying its level best to point out the importance of Kashmir to the world community. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his trip to Davos informed the leaders of various countries about the situation in India-held Kashmir.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum the prime minister made it a point to talk about Pakistan’s desire to resolve all outstanding problems with India, including that of Jammu and Kashmir, through dialogue. This is important for if no one talks about Kashmir and no one talks about Palestine, then how will these conflicts get resolved?
