RAWALPINDI: A young woman was killed after being stabbed by her elder sister in Pindora, police said on Wednesday.

Gul Bahar, father of the girls, told the New Town police that Humaira Bahar, 22, had developed some dispute over cooking with her elder sister.

While they were arguing, the elder sister picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Humaira in her chest injuring her critically. The injured girl was shifted to the Holy Family Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

SI Aslam Hayat who was leading the investigation told Dawn that it was a petty issue which resulted in the killing of the woman.

He said preliminary investigation suggested that the accused was mentally sick.

Police have registered a murder case on the complaint of father and are making efforts to trace her.
