Looks like another singer has been bitten by the acting bug.

Bilal Khan, whose debut single 'Bachana' catapulted him to instant stardom, is now ready to give acting a go and will be seen on our television screens in the much-anticipated Hum Tv drama, Sammi.

Talking to Images about his character, he says, "I can't give a lot of details right now about my character but I can tell you that it was a lot of fun and challenging playing him because in a lot of ways the character I play is different from me in real life. Having said that, I did find plenty of traits in the character that I can relate with."

"The two main reasons for me for choosing to be a part of this project are that it's based on a social issue in Pakistan and is produced in collaboration with John Hopkins University and that the director Saife Hasan along with the actors in the serial are some of the most seasoned and credible names of our drama industry," he adds.

The cast of Sammi also includes Mawra Hocane, Adnan Siddique, Rehan Sheikh to name a few.

Elaborating on how the whole experience was, Khan shares, "Like I said, there are some extremely experienced, versatile and talented actors in this serial. I have gone in with a learner's attitude and I am trying to soak up as much as I can from my co-actors as this is my first experience in a serial. My only experience prior to this is in a Hum Tv telefilm called Tamana ki Tamana which was aired on Eid some time ago."

"The actors I have worked with were extremely friendly and helpful. Saife is a lot of fun to work with and I had a blast. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience on the sets."

Does this signal the end of his music career? Thankfully no.

"I continue to produce music and it's a part of my identity. I'm releasing a lot of new music this year. However when I take on a project apart from music, be it acting or any other creative work, I commit to it completely and give it my all. Future work in acting for me is dependent on getting quality projects like Sammi but music is definitely going to be a constant."

Phew that's a relief!

So what's next on the agenda for Bilal?

"I've just finished recording a lot of new music and my goal is to release a ton of music this year. I've also worked on a bunch of songs with Nitin Sawhney in London as he'd invited me to work with him on original music. Nitin, apart from being a brilliant musician himself, has worked with huge names like Paul McCartney, Sting, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, etc." he reveals.

Every musician in Pakistan seems to act for a living and play music for fun. What a sad state of affairs.
