The Filmfare Awards always prove to be a night to remember; the ceremony is entertaining, achievements of the past year are celebrated and it's when we crane our necks to see what the crème de la crème of Bollywood stepped out wearing on the red carpet.

Many impressed with their fashion evolution from 2016 but no red carpet is complete without some offenders.

Here's who's come a long way from last year in the sartorial department — and who hasn't!

Sonam Kapoor

Although we say she never disappoints, we know she's only human and is bound to falter sometimes, which is exactly what happened at last year's award ceremony! The Neerja star's eastern look was frumpy and uninspiring.

However, this year's edgy yet feminine Elie Saab gown paired with a vampy maroon pout more than made up for it!

Parineeti Chopra

When bows attack, no one is safe.

From sophisticated in a form-fitting black Shivan & Narresh ensemble (minus the slightly tacky straps but we'll let that slide) last year to an in-your-face pink gown with a bow that's larger than life (and not in a good way!) we really don't know what Parineeti was thinking.

We say it to Sana Safinaz and we're telling Parineeti too: stop trying to make bows happen, it's not gonna happen!

Alia Bhatt

We weren't big on her look from last year. The make-up was harsh and the orange and white floral print just wasn't working for us.

But it's like one year in Alia Bhatt's life is a dog year; the young superstar has accomplished so much (she took home a Filmfare award for Best Actress) in her short-span career, it's mind-boggling.

Observing her style evolution is a testament to how far she's come in every aspect; her Prabal Gurung dress was simple and elegant and we liked how she kept it fuss-free with a messy ponytail, minimal make-up and no flashy accessories.

Jacqueline Fernandez

Her peekaboo black Hussein Bazaza from 2016's award ceremony was a miss and this year, she didn't do much to make amends with the fashion police.

Though she went on-trend with the one-shoulder dress, we're still a little on the fence about her Ali Younes number. It just felt more shaadi than award season.

That being said, the make-up and hair was much better this year so there's that.

It is a bit of an improvement from last year (pictured left) — you'll get there, Jacqueline!

Kriti Sanon

At a time when the starlet is on an upward trajectory in her career, she can't afford to be blah on the red carpet.

Unfortunately, we've got a repeat offender on our hands! Although she's wearing a much more flattering choice this time around that accentuates her killer physique, it still lacks oomph.

Sophie Choudry

We know, we know, even we thought she was repeating the same outfit!

We just don't understand why Sophie keeps dressing like she's getting geared up to go to prom...in the '80s. Girl, come on. It's winter, bring on some colour and ditch those pastels, not to mention that mermaid style cut!

Sadly, some of our fave fashionistas were missing from the red carpet like Priyanka and Deepika so we've got more misses than hits on our hands it seems. Better luck next time ladies!

Why can't Pakistani media and people survive without Bollywood ? Please scale up and level upto Indian bollywood. Do not follow greedily.

For a poor, illiterate and under-developed country like Pakistan, there is a fashion- show, style awards, Lux Awards and myriads of other galas held, seemingly every week somewhere! More so than even Hollywood and Bollywood combined!? Something is seriously wrong with a society that produces very little of substance for the world to appreciate - but encourages fashion, glitz and glamour for its youth!

The parade of the pretentious, who have nothing better to do, than to award themselves with parties, glitz, glamour, selfies and hobnobbing with other superficials. Question is: What have they actually produced that makes a difference to the rest of the society to be so giddy about??
