RAWALPINDI: A man was arrested at a check post manned by various security agencies on Sunday on suspicions of having links with a terror group.

According to sources, the suspect was intercepted by security officials after a silver car bearing a registration plate from Azad Jammu and Kashmir was signalled to stop at check post number five on Rawal Road on Sunday at 8pm.

During the search of the car, security officials recovered a 9mm pistol, 28 rounds of ammunition with two magazines, a laptop, 200 Saudi Riyals, Rs10,900 and two bags of literature on the so-called Islamic State.

The 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody and moved to an undisclosed place for further investigation. According to an official, a man came to help the suspect soon after he was taken into custody and that man was also moved to an undisclosed place for investigation.

When asked, a police official said the suspect has links with a terror group and that because he was being investigated by another law enforcement agency, the police did not have further details about the case.
