A legend in his lifetime, Bollywood veteran Dilip Kumar turned 94 today.

Unfortunately, he fell ill a week before his birthday. He is still in the ICU at Leelavati Hospital in Mumbai but doctors claim that he is improving steadily and should hopefully be sent home in less than a week’s time.

An actor, who has inspired so many who followed him, he has reinvented himself in his career, with the result that he never became stale.

I don't understand Pakistan obsession with Dilip Kumar. I have all the respect for the man and agree that he is a brilliant actor but he has no association with Pakistan. He moved to India as million other moved between India and Pakistan. He is a proud Indian and good for him. I am sure he has received many Indian arts and civilian awards. I seriously don't see the logic of Pakistan awarding him, just because he was popular among our politicians they included him in the awards. Ridiculous. Let's say our PM likes SRK and we award him by saying that he has roots from Pakistan Peshawar.

Dilip Kuamar was the grandest actor ever produced by south Asia just as Noor Jehan's voice has been ever the best and incomparable. Enjoy my short poem on him as such: Dilip kumar you're ever best In the east or in the west Incomparable in every way And on top you'll ever stay All people yes do understand You're grandest of the grand In Andaz and Aan and more Your acting stands on top and fore All beneath, you stand above Dilip kumar is one all love Far beyond for ever we see No one better than you will be You retired and missed by all Many a tears have to fall Dilip we wish you and your wife Longer than ever you live your life

The first question of the survey is absolutely wrong. Dilip Kumar was not a Pathan. He has Hindko/Punjabi roots. He belongs from Awan family of Peshawar. Awans of Peshwar are not Pathans. Either Awans speak Hindko or Punjabi, but they are definitely not Pathans. Just like Kapoors , Mr Dilip Kumar has a Non Pushtoon identity while living in Peshawar. Kindly revisit this information.

As far as acting is concerned I am confident that NO body can even touch his glory. His passion and 'emotional' acting is just beyond words. I grew up watching his films and his impact on the Indian youth is/was immense. So many times even our school principle will book the entire hall to show his picture to the entire mass of the school. He was/is apolitical though he was a personal friend of Nehru and other high in the Indian cabinet. Mrs. Gandhi spoke so high of him and was keen to listen his opinion when she was the broadcasting minister. May god bless him and a very healthy return home. He must hit a century in the least.

@Saad I MAY ADD FOR YOUR INFORMATION THAT DILIP KUMAR DID NOT MOVE TO INDIA. PESHAWAR WAS INDIA IN THOSE DAYS. SO DILIP KUMAR ONLY CHANGED CITIES. HE MOVED TO BOMBAY AND MADE HIS PERMANENT RESIDENCE THERE. OF COURSE YOU DO KNOW THAT NOORJAHAN LIVED IN BOMBAY AND MADE HER NAME AS AN ARTISTE OF HER OWN GRADE. BUT SHE LATER MOVED TO LAHORE WITH HER PRODUCER DIRECTOR HUSBAND SHOWKAT HUSSAIN RIZVI. SO WHAT DIFFERENCE YOU FIND IF ANY TALENTED PERSONALITY LIVES IN INDIA, PAKISTAN OR ANY OTHER COUTRY AND IS LIKED, LOVED AND ADMIRED BY OTHERS??!!

Dilip Kumar is immortal, nobody has been like him or can ever be like him. And so has been his romance with Madhubala the beauty of all times, ending in such a tragedy. My only wish is may the love for this great actor, bring the Indians & the Pakistanis together, who actually belonged to the same country, but alas have come to this position, because of the politicians & their politics. Why can't we go beyond the politicians to the beautiful world of such legendary actors & music, common to us both?

@Saad Mate you couldn't be more wrong. I belong to the Yousaf Khan's family in Pakistan and belive you me he loves Pakistan as much as he loves India. His association to Pakistan is his family and root that are still in Peshawar. Also he didn't move to India, he was living in Pune and then Bombay at the time of partition. He has established himself there, he just didn't move back. It is not easy to give up all that you have worked for in a blink of an eye and move to a place where you no longer have any foundation to stand on. I think i would have done the same if I was in his shoes.

@Saad this is something you will feel when your friend and next neighbour and your best friend suddenly fly away some where far , you will miss him and you too. Later you changed your country and he his ,by taking citizenship ....and then one day you meet . How will you express your emotions? Humanity is bigger than Nation, nation is greater than religion but problem with violence rooted muslim is that they think opposite. I am not blaming it for you but making you think if there is same fire at many different places then simply cause is one. Use your own brain not others thought or what they .This is my only request...please do not argue , just take it or leave it. Thanks ! May God give you everything you really need.

Dilip Kumar used to drenched into the color of his character. Too bad that SAGINA MAHATO was not mentioned in the quiz (8/10), was a Dilip/Saira production, & in my opinion, is a class of its own. The couple's youthfulness( His running with a train & Sala main tau- song) & Saira's own personality is remarkable. In one of the interviews, He said that the culture is like a plant, which has to be continually cared for (Lagaana & seenchna). He worked with Bimal Roy were excellent. He is a good Indian & God bless his family.

I don't consider myself to be an expert on DK but was and will remain his die hard fan as he is a legend to be followed, an institution to be enrolled and a text to be read and re-read. He is a man which has given a society a social ethics and the industry the real entertainment value, a philanthropist who has given a lesson to the rich, that to die rich is a disgrace if you have not fulfill the needs of others and taught the greedy of name and fame to detest it as it is purely a divine reward which is bestowed on one whose intentions are pure and whose efforts are sincere. DK has taught from the screen the art of voice control, sense of dressing ,mannerism, modulation and above all how to be a good human who can serve the humanity irrespective of caste, creed, religion, culture and civilization.
