PESHAWAR: PML-N senior vice president Engineer Amir Muqam on Saturday asked PTI chairman Imran Khan to stop pressuring courts and courageously face repercussions of falsely accusing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other leaders of corruption over Panama Papers leaks.

Mr. Muqam, who is also adviser to the prime minister, told reporters at the Peshawar Press Club that the PTI chairman was not serious about resolving the people’s issues and that there was a clear contradiction in his words and actions.

He said Imran Khan had never respected the court’s decisions and that he had made another U-turn by rejecting the formation of a commission on Panama Papers Leaks issue.

“The commission’s formation had long been the main demand of Imran Khan but now, he has made a U-turn on it,” he said.

The PML-N leader criticised the PTI chief saying the people, especially those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had rejected the PTI’s politics as it believed in sit-ins and protest rallies to misguide workers. He jokingly said the PTI chairman would marry third time instead of becoming the prime minister as his party couldn’t win general elections.

“We know the loyalty of Imran Khan with the KP people and with the soil. He’s taken care of neither the people of KP nor of his voters and supporters,” he said.

Mr. Muqam alleged that Imran Khan had deceived the people of KP in the name of ‘change’ but the people would be very careful next time they went to poll bearing the so-called development agenda of the PTI. He suggested that the PTI lawmakers step down if they can’t play due role in parliament and assemblies.

The PML-N leader said Imran Khan had made the people’s lives miserable by creating misconceptions.

“The PTI chief wants to survive politically through issues like Panama Papers leaks but the people won’t support him anymore,” he said.

Mr. Muqam criticised PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over anti-PML-N remarks and said the PPP had lost its popularity in the country after the death of Benazir Bhutto.

He claimed his party would sweep the next general elections as its government in the centre was delivering the goods. On the occasion, a group of PTI workers led by member of the party’s central executive committee Shahid Habib Kangra announced the joining of the PML-N.

Mr. Habib said he’d quit the PTI due to a clear disparity in words and actions of the leadership.

“I’d prepared feasibility reports of several projects and presented them to the PTI leadership but got no response,” he said, adding that the PTI government had failed to deliver.

Several PML-N leaders including Nasir Khan Musazai, Haji Sifatullah, Humayun Shah Kakakhel, Haji Ihsanullah and Faqir Mohammad were also present on the occasion.
