LAHORE: Activists of two groups of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) clashed with each other during a sit-in in front of Governor House on The Mall on Wednesday.

The YDA activists had started gathering outside the Governor House around noon to protest against the Central Induction Policy introduced by the Punjab government.

Initially, they were standing along the road while carrying placards and banners declaring the policy “central corruption policy”. Within half an hour, they started occupying The Mall, causing traffic jams not only on the busiest thoroughfare but also on its adjoining arteries.

They also misbehaved with motorcyclists who attempted to cross The Mall from Aiwan-i-Tijarat Road intersection.

In the meanwhile, some of the YDA protesters exchanged hot words over some matter. By the time the YDA Punjab leadership could reach there, activists belonging to both the groups had slapped one another and used fists and kicks to settle the matter.

Later, the YDA activists dispersed peacefully while raising slogans against the government.
