PESHAWAR: As many as twelve hockey Olympians will be coming to Peshawar to inaugurate the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Regional Under-16 Boys Hockey Championship on Dec 22 at the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium, President KP Hockey Association retired Captain Tariq Hayat said here on Wednesday.

“Legendary captain Islahuddin, Samiullah, Iftikhar Syed, Manzoorul Hassan, Shahnaz Sheikh, Hassan Sardar, Hanif Khan, Musaddiq Hussain, Rashidul Hassan, Salim Nazim, Iqbal Bali, Usman Sheikh will be coming at the Qayyum Sports Complex and then proceed to the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium where they will meet players of the participating teams from the seven regions comprising Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Swat, Hazara and Peshawar,” said Tariq.

“The arrival of the teams will be completed on Dec 21 and the opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on the 22nd at 3.00 p.m,” he added.

He said a total of 35 probables would be short-listed for the camp to be organised at a same venue wherein KP Hockey Academy coaches Yasir Islam and Zia Binori would impart training and coaching.

World Elite Panel hockey umpire Faiz Muhammad Faizi will act as tournament director and umpire’s manager as well.
