ISLAMABAD: The remains of a man were found on the Margalla Hills, police said on Tuesday.

The remains were found near Daman-i-Koh by villagers looking for wood and were moved to the hospital by the police for an autopsy and identification.

The body was identified as that of Zarab Abbasi, a native of Murree. The police said a CNIC found with the body had helped in its identification and a son of the deceased also later identified the body.

Zarab Abbasi had been missing since Oct 18 from Islamabad and his son, Abdullah, had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Karachi Company police station.

The victim lived in Faizabad with his family and owned a property business in Islamabad, the police said. His family had conducted searches and later informed the police of him going missing. The victim’s son suspects that his father had been abducted by some rivals who had killed him and dumped his body in a wooded area of the Margalla Hills.

Sub-Inspector Amir Abdullah told Dawn that the autopsy had not determined the cause of death and that samples from the body will be sent to Lahore in order to establish the cause of death.
