Nadra’s processing

Published December 7, 2016

MY daughter Nayantara Mirza, who lives in Michigan and plans to visit her parents in Karachi in the last week of December, applied for her two sons’ identity cards meant for overseas Pakistanis on Oct 23.

She was hoping that as per the information on Nadra’s website the processing would be completed in a week, and five days would be taken to receive them through couriers. However, six weeks have passed and there is no trace of the ID cards. Every time she checks the website the message she gets is that the cards are under processing.

This is highly painful because she has already bought tickets for the two boys and there is no way she can leave the kids at her home in Michigan.

Whenever I approached the Nadra office in Karachi, the officers are polite but they give the same answer — the cards are under print.

The tracking number of her son Ismael Mirza is 780000024617 and that of her elder son Humzah Mirza is 780000014. My daughter has already paid in dollars, the sum equivalent to Pakistani Rs22,000 for each child. Will Nadra wake up and courier the cards immediately?
