DADU: Three dacoits were killed in an encounter minutes after they snatched a motorcycle and robbed a fuel station cashier of cash near Puhulji town late on Friday night, police said.

Dadu SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar told the media that the encounter took place at Noor Wah, some one-and-a-half kilometres from Puhulji Station town where a gang of five dacoits had committed the crimes.

The snatched motorcycle and looted money were seized from the deceased dacoits, the SSP said.

He said that Liaquat Ali Panhwar drew the attention of a police team by raising hue and cry after he was injured by the gang, which also snatched his bike.

Later, some people told the police party that the cashier of a fuel station a little away from the place was looted and beaten up by the gang.

The police team chased the gangsters and challenged them at Noor Wah locality, the SSP said, adding that an encounter ensued after which three of the five dacoits were found dead.

He identified the deceased dacoits as Shamoo Teghani, Yousuf Jatoi and Mumtaz Jatoi. He said two rifles, one pistol and around 200 bullets, besides the booty, were seized from them.
