TIMERGARA: The Timergara tehsil council on Wednesday rejected introduction of pant-shirt as uniform in government schools in the district and demanded of the education department to continue with the ‘shalwar qameez’ dress code.

A meeting of the council was held here with its convener Asfandyar in the chair. Speaking on the occasion, councillors Inayatur Rehman, Mohammad Ibrahim, Mohammad Raziq, Mohammad Haleem and Mohammad Khan demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and high-ups of education department to review the decision about ‘pant shirt’ as the school uniform.

They warned that the councillors would come on the roads if the government did not review the decision.

Tehsil nazim Riaz Mohammad said that traffic jams had become a routine in the city, causing difficulties for the people. He said that loading and unloading in the city had been prohibited at daytime, but there was no check in this regard. The nazim said that the council had decided to launch a campaign against encroachments.

He said that a separate bus stand was being established at Talash so that students and government employees could reach their destinations in time.

Also in the day, district councillor Maulana Mohammad Imran told mediapersons that a resolution regarding pant shirt in Dir schools would be tabled in the next meeting of the district council.
