KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has vowed to take up the case of Karachi at every forum, including parliament, and blamed its “incapable leadership” for ruining the commercial capital of the country.

Speaking at the concluding session of the two-day workers’ convention of the JI here on Sunday, he said that the key of solutions to all problems of Karachi lay with its people.

Stressing the need for restoring basic facilities in Karachi as well as in Sindh, he held corruption in Islamabad, Karachi and elsewhere in Sindh responsible for the dismal situation.

He said that the JI was not an ordinary political party but a revolutionist movement, which was struggling for a peaceful Islamic revolution.

Criticising a recent bill regarding forcible conversion of religion passed by the Sindh Assembly, he said it was against the teachings of Islam as well as the Constitution of the country.

“The party of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is mulling to breach the Constitution, being bestowed by its founder,” he added.

He said that the JI had been pursuing the agenda of a peaceful, prosperous and Islamic Pakistan.

He asked the people to follow the teachings and principles of Islam, read some verses of the Quran on a daily basis so as to have guidance directly from the holy book.

He said that the JI was determined to fight for the rights of labourers and other oppressed segments of Sindh.

The JI chief urged the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to reveal the basis of their offshore assets, saying the call for a transparent probe into Panamagate was the voice of Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said that Muslims of the world needed to get united and play an active role in the changing global scenario.

Recalling that the US had been rapidly losing its super power status, China and Pakistan have been gaining prominent positions due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said that Muslim block could use this opportunity to become more strong and active in the global arena.

He said that corruption was a major problem for Pakistan in the path of progress and development.

JI-Sindh emir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui vowed that his party would not only bring back the lights of Karachi but would also restore the lost glory of the province.

Earlier, Karachi chief of the JI Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also spoke.

Meanwhile, the JI chief while addressing the women workers of the party urged them to make Hazrat Ayesha (RA) and Hazrat Fatima (RA) their role model so as to have success in this world and hereafter.

He said that the western powers had been targeting the family system of the Islamic world so as to destroy the very fabric of the Islamic society. “The Islamic ideology and women empowerment within the sphere of Islam would fail the agenda of the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.”
