TIMERGARA: Management cadre officers in the education department have demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to announce a proper service structure for them.

The demand was made at a meeting here on Sunday with district education officer male Dr Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim in the chair.

The participants complained that there was no service structure for them, pointing out that while the teaching cadre had the opportunity for promotion the management cadre officers retired in the same scale under the existing rules.

The meeting was also informed that a delegation of management cadre met minister for finance Muzafar Syed here the other day and apprised him of their concerns over lack of promotion opportunity. The minister was informed that the district education officers retired in the same grade 19. Similarly ASDOs, ADOs, DDOs and SDOs had no chance of promotion.

The meeting was informed that the minister told the education officers that his ministry would not obstruct any move aimed at their promotion. Mr Syed told the delegation that any decision regarding their promotion would be made with the involvement of the ministries of finance, law and education.

TEACHERS’ BODY ELECTIONS: The annual elections of the Tanzeem-i-Asateza were held in five of the seven tehsils of Lower Dir on Sunday.

According to the results, Riaz Hussain was elected president, Abdul Raziq general secretary and Ghulam Ghafoor finance secretary, respectively, for Talash tehsil; Mohammad Tahir president, Wakil Mohammad general secretary and Maulana Mujib ur Rehman finance secretary for Munda tehsil; Mohammad Rahim president, Mustafa Khan general secretary and Mohammad Faheem finance secretary for Badwan tehsil; Maulana Akbar Zada president, Fazal Subhan general secretary and Hameed ur Rehman finance secretary for Maidan tehsil; while Yousaf Khan was elected president, Badshah Rehman general secretary and Fatehmul Haq finance secretary for Lajbok tehsil.

APML OFFICE OPENS: The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) led by retired Gen Pervez Musharaf inaugurated its office at Kambat Samarbagh on Sunday.

APML provincial chief organiser Aurangzeb Mohmand inaugurated the office during a function which was attended by party office-bearers.
