RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against the managing director of a private housing society for selling 111 kanals of land allotted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for parks, open spaces, graveyards and public buildings, including mosques and schools.

In his complaint lodged with the FIA, CDA Director Housing Societies Faraz Malik said the management of the Gilani Housing Corporation International, sponsor of the Jeddah Town Housing Scheme in mouza Rajwal Hummak, mortgaged plots on 150 kanals of land on March 20, 1993 of which 111 kanals was allocated for parks, open places, graveyards, mosques and schools.

In his FIR, the complainant said that the managing director of Gilani Housing Corporation International, Syed Tariq Hassan Gilani allotted and transferred the said mortgaged plots as well as amenity plots of the CDA to various allottees via transfer letters.

The FIA alleged that he had also deceived the allottees as the land was already mortgaged to the CDA. The act by Hassan Gilani was a breach of trust which resulted in huge losses to the CDA.

A case was registered with the FIA, which is working against organised land mafia in the federal capital and an investigation was launched against the management of the private housing society for massive irregularities.
