RAWALPINDI: Former tehsil nazim Hamid Nawaz Raja of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) is all set to join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) before the dharna scheduled for Nov 2.
“I will formally announce it before November 2,” said Raja Hamid Nawaz, who is the brother-in-law of former provincial minister Raja Basharat.
Hamid Nawaz Raja is member of a strong political family of the garrison city and belonged to Dhamial.
When Musharraf introduced the local government system in the country in 2001, Raja Basharat and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed wanted their man to be the town nazim of Rawalpindi city.
To end the rift between the two politicians and close allies of Musharraf, former PML-Q-led Punjab government bifurcated the city’s tehsil municipal administration (TMA) into Rawal and Potohar towns.
