LAHORE: PPP Senator Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said on Monday his party would join the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Nov 2 Islamabad protest if political workers were subjected to baton charge.
Talking to media persons at the Lahore High Court, Barrister Ahsan was of the view that the demand of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for accountability of prime minister and his family members was genuine.
He said PPP was not part of the Nov 2 protest, however, the party could change its decision if the government resorted to use of force against the demonstrators.
He said all anti-corruption watchdogs including National Accountability Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency had been influenced by the PML-N government and sitting idle on the issue of Panama leaks.
The PPP leader said had any businessman been involved in establishing offshore company he would have been arrested without any delay. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wanted to escape accountability.
“The accountability should start from the prime minister,” Mr Ahsan added.
