CHARSADDA: A sub-inspector of the police’s special branch was shot dead by unknown assailants in front of his house in Sardaryab area here on Monday morning.

The wife of the deceased sub-inspector, Akbar Khan, reported to the city police that unknown attackers riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on her husband as soon as he got out of his house in Gulabad village of Sardaryab. As a result of the firing, he died on the spot, while assailants managed to escape.

She said he was going to Peshawar for his duty in the special branch.

An FIR was registered against unknown assailants in Charsadda city police station. According to police, the report was sent to CTD police station Mardan, where a case was registered under the anti-terrorism act.
