KOHAT: Three passengers were killed and 13 injured when two coasters collided head-on on Rawalpindi road here on Sunday.

The accident occurred between Rawalpindi and Kohat-bound passenger coaches near Gumbat.

The police said that Javed, belonging to Haripur, Abdul Malik of Pind Sultani and Zahid Rasheed, resident of Lahore, died on the spot.

The injured who also included six women are Bilqis Bibi, Hafeeza Bibi, Ansa Bibi, Zareen Bibi, Taj Bibi and Fehmeeda Bibi, residents of Raisan, Hangu district, Naveed Iqbal, Mohammad Nawaz, Asad, Ghulam Shabbir and Sabir Hussain of Jand, Attock, Shafqat Iqbal of Garhi Dhodhewal, Kohat and Saleem Iqbal of Karak district.

The injured were immediately shifted to the rural health centre, Gumbat and KDA Teaching Hospital. The hospital sources said that condition of some of the patients was serious.

The Gumbat police impounded both the vehicles and registered the case against the drivers.
