Lyari Expressway

Published October 23, 2016

THE Sindh government with the help of the Motorway Police took an excellent step by making Layari Expressway operational in the opposite direction from Agra Taj to Hassan Square during Ramazan. The same practice was repeated on Ashura days, daily from 4pm to 9pm. It turned out to be such a relaxing experience for the citizens both mentally and physically.

Why was this arrangement abandoned after Ramazan? It should be implemented on a daily basis till the construction of expressway from Agra Taj to Hassan Square is completed and becomes operational.

We, the residents of Gulshan-i-Maymar, commute to Ziauddin Ahmed Road, I. I. Chundrigar Road and M.T. Khan Road on a daily basis. A large number of people living in the adjoining areas of Sohrab Goth, Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Federal B. Area, North Karachi and North Nazimabad will also be its beneficiaries. There will be fewer traffic jams, less pollution, and much saving of fuel, which will ultimately add to the economic growth of the country.

All of us driving from I. I. Chundrigar Road to any of the above-mentioned areas after 5pm are well aware of traffic jams on a daily basis.

The Sindh government should accommodate and provide comfort to the people of Karachi.
