Not just in the movies - Its deeply ingrained in to our culture, values and day to day ethics. How about terms like 'fair enough', ' dark themes'...etc. We equate fairness with - goodness, righteousness and beauty.
A new popular bollywood song croons - kala chashma jachda aye...jachda hey gore mukhde pe.
Its way too deeply ingrained to be ignored and to deal with.

Just answer this question. Would you choose for your son a fair/dark skin wife?

@Robin Akbar Firstly, my son chose his own wife, I had no say in the matter, but if I had, skin colour would not have been a factor. I would be looking for attributes like intelligence, kindness, humour, compassion, consideration etc etc

Maybe the way we 've been raised in a society where White symbolises Rich and luxurious and black as poor and dubious.
