PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration on Friday continued demolishing illegal structures on Charsadda Road and Bakhshi Pul, and recovered land belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority.
A statement issued here said the encroachers had illegally occupied the state land since long and avoided to vacate it despite repeated notices issued to them by relevant government departments. The recovered land, it said, was worth millions of rupees.
It was stated that in a similar operation against encroachments, district administration had on Thursday demolished 60 shops and cabins constructed on the state land. On the occasion, 30 people were also arrested for offering resistance.
The statement said the operation had been launched within 10 kilometre area on both sides of the Bara Road from Bara Gate to Ring Road, and also in limits of Karkhano Market on Jamrud Road.
The anti-encroachment campaign is also meant to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the city roads.
The operation was led by Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud.
Another team, the statement said, had initiated anti-encroachment operation in the areas of Ashraf Road, Chowk Yaagdar, Qissa Khwani, Kabari Bazaar, Shoba Bazaar, Khyber Bazaar, Namak Mandi, Khudadad Chowk, and Dabgari Chowk.
