LARKANA: The Pak-China friendship car rally participants were accorded a warm and traditional welcome when they arrived Otha Chowk in Larkana via Sukkur and Khairpur on Friday before moving on to Moenjodaro, where they visited remains of the ancient Indus civilisation.

Senior civil and military officials of the area including Larkana Commissioner Inamullah Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner Javed Ali Jagirani, Shahbaz Rangers Wing Commander Lt-Col Asim, SSP Kamran Nawaz and a large number of students and scouts showered rose petals on the rally as it drove to Moenjodaro, where a befitting welcome awaited them.

Officials of the district administration, the Sindh Tourism and Development Corporation (STDC) and others welcomed the guests at Moenjodaro and garlanded them as a group of artists performed traditional dances and threw rose petals on the members of the rally who were so moved by the warm reception that they too started dancing to the drumbeats.

A spokesperson for the rally praised the hospitality of the people of Sindh and raised pro-Pakistan slogans.

The guests visited the Moenjodaro remains and took keen interest in different artifacts unearthed from the ruins and preserved in the museum.

The STDC officials briefed the guests about the efforts and plans for the conservation and preservation of the relics of the ancient civilization.

Later, Larkana divisional commissioner, deputy commissioner and other high officials presented traditional Sindhi gifts of Ajraks and Topis to the guests before the rally left for Hyderabad via Tando Masti, Ranipur.
