Pakistanis and Indians ask for #PeaceNotWar amid rising Indo-Pak tensions

Proof that the common-man is not in favour of a war
Updated 01 Oct, 2016

In the thick of much he said-she said, India-Pakistan relations are taking a turn for the worse, but the common Pakistani and Indian is done - in other words, they've had it.

Using social media as a tool, Pakistanis and Indians take to Twitter with hashtag #PeaceNotWar. It didn't take long for the hashtag to hit top trend in Pakistan.

Many just asked people on both sides of the border to stop the hate.

Some even taking up relevant social causes instead.

Others cited the distraught genocide brings.

Then there were those who tweeted quotes of prominent Indians...

... and that of a pretty mean guitarist.

Who can deny that the two governments are at play here.

Aww... now that's the way to deal with it.

Let's not forget Parineeti Chopra and her BFF Shahzaib Ali who hails from Pakistan and stood up for her when everybody was pointing fingers at the actor for body shaming him. Umm, learn from them, maybe? And have each other's backs...

Peace not war, guys.

I think this is the sensible approach. Since the media on both sides has gone hysterical, the common citizens of both countries need to come forward and remind the Journalists that their job is to spread Love not hatred and clarify the misunderstandings that lead to such hatred.

I also appeal for peace between India and pakistan as we have much to fight for internally than at LOC. Hope those in power learn the fact.

Frequent tensions make me wonder why it is so when we share common ancestry , look , eat and talk similar and our culture is also similar . Just because we forced to stay apart because of an artificial ideological differences forced upon us by political opportunists during partition . Differences between the countries have been aptly exploited by countries like Russia , USA or China to sell off defense equipment and to gain diplomatic mileages . Its high time that civilians of both countries realize the folly and stand united so that none use us like pawn for their ulterior motive and dare not play with our future anymore . We can replicate the EU model , where people can move freely , work anywhere and get the best of life that they deserve once we realize that the boundaries that have been drawn are the cause of our miseries , then there will be no trouble in Baluchistan or Kashmir . ANYBODY LISTENING !!!

We both the countries can live in peace, if we mind our own business and do not interfere in others affairs and leave the internal problems be handled by respective countries.

We have made a cocktail of our religions, politics, and nationalism; now we are left with nothing else but JINGOISM.

A group of about 10 girls from Pakistan is in Chandigarh for about a week or so for a youth meet. Few days ago, their parents became very worried and started calling them. MEA today called the organisers and gave special instructions to make sure the girls were well taken care of. The girls are really happy and are enjoying homestays here

The Indo Pak leadership must reflect on consequence of past when outsiders took advantage of divisiveness within the sub continent. It does not take rocket science to understand the ultimate objectives of the global super powers. The Chinese, Ameicans, and the Russians are not interested to uplift the masses of the sub continent. They are there to divide and fulfill their own vested interests-- sociio- evonomic and political dominance . Failure to recognize this fundamental will be yet again a historical betrayal of the masses in India and Pakistan!
