TAXILA: The local administration in collaboration with the police and other law enforcement agencies has chalked out a security plan for Muharram processions and Majalis.

In this regard, a meeting of the tehsil peace committee was held at the community centre on Thursday which was chaired by Assistant Commissioner Shahid Imran. The meeting was attended by religious leaders from all schools of thought who assured the local administration of their full cooperation to ensure peace and harmony during the month.

Sources told Dawn that foolproof security arrangements had been planned for imambargahs and mosques in Taxila and Wah Cantonment. They said 10 religious figures placed in category A and 69 in category B would be under strict vigilance. Surety bonds for not creating any disturbance have been taken from those placed in the category A. As many as 33 processions would be taken out in Taxila and 10 in Wah Cantonment during the month.

The sources said 31 majalis would be held in Taxila and Wah Cantt out of which nine have been declared sensitive, seven less sensitive and 15 normal. Around 20 processions and 18 majalis have been declared sensitive in Taxila and Wah Cantonment.
