KHAR: A pro-government elder of Salarzai tribe narrowly escaped a bomb blast here on Tuesday, local people and officials said.
They said the incident occurred in Tangai area of Salarzai tehsil, 12km from Khar, the agency headquarters of Bajaur Agency.
They said Malik Abdur Khan along with his driver was on way to his home from Khar in his car when he was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb near his native town in Tangai.
An official of the local administration told Dawn that the tribal elder and his driver remained unhurt in the blast. However, the car was partially damaged.
People of the nearby areas and Levies officials reached the site of the blast and condoned off the area. Later, the local administration with the help of Levies force also launched a search for the assailants, but the attackers managed to escape the area.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. According to local people, Abdur Khan had no enmity in the area.
Fazal Manan, a younger brother of pro-government elder Malik Taj Khan of Mamund was killed in a remote-controlled bomb blast near his native Tarkhoo area on Sunday.
