KOHAT: Armed motorcyclists ambushed a car near PAF Cinema Square here on Tuesday, killing three persons, among them a pedestrian, and injuring six others. Police said the incident was the result of an old enmity.

The police said the six injured included an army man, a rickshaw driver and one of the alleged attackers, Samar Iqbal.

According to an official statement, Samar Iqbal, Younis, Faraz and Imtiaz of Garhi Mawaz Khan sprayed a car coming towards Kohat with bullets which resulted in the death of inmates Tahir Shah, Haroon Shah and a pedestrian from Mianwali, Aamir Hayat.

The firing left accused Samar Iqbal, who was arrested while fleeing, pedestrians Sajid, Shagufta Bibi, Najaf Ali, Younis and a rickshaw driver Wakeel Kumar, injured.

The cantonment police shifted the deceased and the injured to different hospitals to avoid further clash and nominated the accused in the FIR on the complaint of the relatives of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the police arrested 15 gamblers from Tanda resort and Khattak Colony on Bannu road and confiscated the stake money on Tuesday.

DSP Sadder circle Ghulam Hussain Bangash, acting on a tip-off, raided a hujra in Tanda dam where people were busy in gambling.

Similarly, a police team stormed a hujra in Khattak Colony and arrested the gamblers.

The police cumulatively seized Rs111,000 stake money and shifted the gamblers to police station and then presented them before a judge who sent them on judicial remand to Kohat prison.
