RAWALPINDI: A shopkeeper was stabbed to death while his brother was critically injured in a clash between two groups in Sadiqbad on Sunday.
In another incident, a young man killed himself on his wedding day over a family dispute in Kalar Syedan, police said.
Naveed Saeed, 30, a welding shop owner, was stabbed to death and his brother Tanveer Saeed, 25, injured by another shopkeeper and his accomplices over a monetary dispute.
Yasir Rabbani, the SHO of Sadiqabad, told Dawn that Khuram, also a shopkeeper, along with seven to eight people attacked Naveed and his brother with iron rods and hammers etc. “Faisal Mehmood, one of the accomplices of Khuram, brought scissors from a nearby barbershop and stabbed Naveed to death,” he added.
The injured were taken to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where Naveed was pronounced dead while his brother was in a critical condition. None of the attackers has so far been arrested but efforts are underway to nab them, said the police.
Meanwhile, the bridegroom, Mohammad Shaban, 25, shot himself dead with a pistol over a quarrel between his father and his uncle over a family issue. The incident occurred a few hours before the wedding ceremony of Shaban.
