LAKKI MARWAT: District Education Officer Haziqur Rehman has directed the heads of schools to enhance security of their respective educational institutions.

In a letter to the heads of schools, he said that provincial government provided huge chunk of funds to the public sector schools to improve security arrangements.

The DEO said that education department with the support of district administration and police had already issued security guidelines to heads of schools.

“Besides tasking teachers with security duty, the heads of schools should ensure presence of Class-IV employees at the main gate and rooftop of the building,” he said. He directed the officials of education department to check security arrangements during their visits to the schools.

SCOUT WEEK: Nisar Mohammad, assistant district officer of education department, inaugurated national scout week at a function held in Government Higher Secondary School Tajazai on Tuesday.

Mr Nisar, who also holds the office of district scout secretary, briefed the boy scouts and scout leaders about the activities of the week. “The government is focusing on revival of scouting activities in state-run schools,” he said.

He said that national scout week was aimed at motivating boy scouts and students to take part in scouting activities.

“During the week, the scouts will take part in community service and other programmes to enhance their self-confidence,” said Mr Nisar. He added that a scout should be prominent among others for his services to the community and having good manners.

ANIMALS: The livestock department has set up special camps at several places to spay the sacrificial animals being brought to the local cattle markets from neighbouring districts and tribal region.

Talking to journalists, Dr Naseemullah Wazir, district director of livestock, said that the camps were established in Darra Tang, Qaboolkhel, Darra Pezu, and Malang Adda. “The technical staffers deputed at camps have been directed to ensure all animals brought to the district from other areas are cleared of ticks through anti-Congo spray,” said the official.
