QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested a tribal elder for verifying Afghan Taliban's former chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour's Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).

"Malik Mehboob Noorzai had verified the documents of Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour," said the FIA official.

The FIA team conducted the raid and arrested Noorzai from Chaman, Pakistan's bordering town with Afghanistan.

For further investigation, Noorzai was shifted to FIA's regional headquarter in Quetta.

"More arrests in connection with Mansour's national identity card and passports are likely to be made," FIA official told.

The Afghan Taliban Chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour was killed in an American drone strike in Balochistan's Noshki district close to the porous Afghan border.

The drone strike was also the first in the restive province of Balochistan, considered a red-line by the Pakistani government. Authorisation for the strike came directly from US President Barack Obama.

Pakistani national identity card and passport of Mullah Mansour were recovered from the spot.

The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had ordered inquiry into the incident and officials of NADRA and district administrations were arrested in this regard.

The adviser on foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, was of the opinion that the action has undermined the Afghan peace process once again.
