LAHORE: A writ petition filed in the Lahore High Court requests that names of three Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders be included in the Exit Control List (ECL).

Barrister Ali Gilani alleged in his petition that Dr Farooq Sattar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Khwaja Izharul Hassan endorsed anti-Pakistan statements of their party chief Altaf Hussain.

The lawyer stated the respondent leaders were also guilty of sedition by not openly disapproving the allegedly anti-state sentiments of their London-based leader.

He expressed apprehensions that the respondents could flee the country in the wake of government’s action against the MQM. Therefore, he asked the court to place the names of the leaders on ECL.
