KARACHI: An accountability court granted the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday one-day transit remand of a top official of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), who had been arrested on allegations of corruption in the affairs of the Mirpurkhas Board of Secondary Education.

NAB arrested chairman of the BSEK Anwar Ahmed Zai from his office in North Nazimabad on Thursday for allegedly making illegal appointment, embezzlement of funds and tampering with examination results in the Mirpurkhas Board of Secondary Education when he was its chairman in the past.

NAB produced the suspect before the administrative judge of accountability courts, Karachi, Saad Qureshi, and sought his transitory remand in order to produce him before the trial court in Hyderabad. The court directed NAB to present him before the court concerned on Saturday.
