PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has sought reply from the interior ministry and National Accountability Bureau on a petition filed by Syed Masoom Shah, adviser to former chief minister Haider Khan Hoti for putting his name in the exit control list.

The directives were issued by a two-member bench comprising Justice Qaiser Rasheed and Justice Ibrahim Khan.

The petitioner’s counsel Barrister Waqar prayed that his petitioner had been arrested by NAB on the charges of accumulating illegal assets but he had already paid Rs330 million under the voluntary return programme. However, his name was still on the exit control list despite payment of the money.

The NAB, he said, was asking for 15 per cent accidental charges on the amount paid voluntary, adding the Supreme Court had already declared the accidental charges as null and void.

The lawyer said the high court had already granted stay order in this connection. He said the petitioner desired to go for Hajj but could not leave the country due to the restrictions.

Justice Ibrahim Khan said that as he had already decided cases as the accountability judge he would not become member of the bench in the instant case.
