LAHORE: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management has terminated a senior purser from service for trying to smuggle gold to the United States.
“The PIA has terminated senior purser Nuzhat Bokhari who was involved in attempted gold smuggling through New York-bound flight PK-721 at the Lahore airport,” airline spokesman Daniyal Gilani said.
Customs officials on Tuesday arrested Ms Bokhari for concealing 2.5kg gold in her luggage.
Recently, the ANF arrested more than 10 PIA employees for allegedly smuggling 6kg heroin to Dubai from Lahore.
Meanwhile, immigration authorities at the Lahore airport arrested Saeed Ahmed Qureshi for trying to leave Spain on fake British passport.
The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested two human smugglers involved in sending people abroad through land routes. An official said Zulfiqar Hasan and Siddique Ibrahim were hiding in Gujranwala before they were arrested on Wednesday.
